There is no doubt that having a laundry room at home makes doing laundry more convenient. A laundry room, no matter how large or how small, should be organized, stylish, and functional. And doesn’t everyone love laundry room organization? I know I do.
With a few designing tips and a bit of organizing, you can create a laundry room that works for you! Creating more efficient use of space can also help make your laundry room a pleasant area for accomplishing the daunting task of laundry!
Sometimes all it takes is a few decorative pieces (glass containers, pretty baskets, shelves, etc.) to transform your laundry room into a unique and serene space for doing laundry. Let’s look at 5 tips to help transform your laundry room into a space you are proud of. We’ll look at ways to maximize space, declutter, and organize as well as creating a dedicated workspace. Laundry room organization is easy and very effective!

Keep the Counters Clear
Tip #1 – A laundry room counter is a great place to fold clothes. The counter space should be kept clear, uncluttered, and used for folding clothes! A cabinet or shelf above the washer and dryer is an ideal spot for storing such items. If you don’t have a countertop in your laundry room and have a front loading washer and dryer, consider adding a countertop just above the washer and dryer.
Laundry Supplies
Tip #2 – Organize your laundry room by storing your laundry detergent, stain remover, dryer sheets, and bleach in a designated cabinet. Consider storing them in a nearby cabinet above your washer and dryer. To help designate specific spaces for laundry supplies, use a mix of drawers and shelves. Labeled clear decorative containers can also hold some types of laundry supplies. The containers can be placed on open shelves for a nice and neat look.

Store Household Essentials
Tip #4 – Laundry rooms are a great place to store items such as extra paper goods, cleaning supplies, sheets, and towels. Store these items on open shelves or in simple containers that are well-labeled.
Household Tool Storage
Tip #3 – Keep household tools (hammers, screwdrivers, nails, etc.) in the laundry room. Tools can be tucked away in drawers in the laundry room where they are easily accessible yet out of the way. If you’re short on space, add a narrow storage tower between your washer and dryer to accommodate household tools.

Create Vertical Space
Tip #5 – Go as high as you can with shelving and cabinetry. Be careful not to go too high, as it may make it difficult or unsafe to reach. An excellent way to utilize your vertical storage space in your laundry room is by adding a wall-mounted drying rack. When they are not in use, you can fold them up so they aren’t in your way.

Whether your laundry room is large or small, time spent to declutter and organize will be well worth the effort. Having a clear counter will make folding clothes a breeze. And having a dedicated space for laundry products and other household essentials will maximize the functionality of your laundry room. Organization in your laundry room matters!
